The Seed Idea

Here are some tree references for me to look at as part of my research. The tree I draw won't have leaves, the long thin branches will make up the logo.
Idea: maybe the 5 second closing ident leaves could grow on the fully formed tree as a good outro?
The tree will look as realistic as possible, I think a good pen can draw up the fine lines needed of the branches and using a revealing technique on after effects I can slowly show the seed developing into a tree.

Exploring Techniques

I really think the hand drawn feel relates to the DO Lectures, having looked at their website that is the theme of their type and throughout each site page. I definatly feel I will keep my ident organic as it will feature on the site and i wouldn't want it to look out of place. Obviously I have different ideas that will have different mediums used.

The Seed Idea will be a hand drawn tree system showing above and below ground starting from the seed to the roots to the tree to the leaves baring the Do logo.

The Quotes Idea will be a text based animation and whether i find the text or hand draw it, it needs to fit in with the websites theme.

The Hurdles Idea I thought would be a digital piece maybe done in Maya maybe, I will have to explore this technique more and see what I choose and what I come up with.

The Clothing Idea will be live footage and photoshop touched up digital imagery beside me as I talk about my business. I wouldn't use any colour in my piece as black white and green are the only colours used on the site.

Hurdle Idea

This idea is about getting over the problems people experience on the road to success and chasing their dreams. The idea I had was to show a running track from the point of view of the runner, the runner begins to run and comes up to hurdles which have 'Dont' wrote on them. Each hurdle represents a time to give up, stop or go back, but the runner leaps over and leaps over the next one and the next one until they come to the finishing line and the finishing banner that bares the 'Do' logo and the success of achieving your goal or your dream.

I love this idea because of what it represents and i know the audience at the Do Lectures would understand immediatly, it is a great introduction to a speaker.

Do Lectures Website

DO Lectures website looks very hand drawn and natural, I think they have tried to capture the feel of the great outdoors where these talks are based and the togetherness of the event. The website works with a great balance of text and images, simple to read layout and easy to find sections. The theme continues throughout the website and also the lectures are available for download.
the next paragraph is taken from their website and sums them up perfectly:

The idea is a simple one.

That people who Do things, can inspire the rest of us to go and Do things too.

So each year, we invite a set of people down here to come and tell us what they Do.

They can be small Do's or big Do's or just plain amazing extraordinary Do's. But when you listen to their stories, they just light a fire in your belly to go and Do your thing, your passion, the thing that sits in the back your head each day, just waiting, and waiting for you to follow your heart.

To go find your cause to fight for, your company to go start, your invention to invent, your book to write, your mountain to climb.

The one thing the Doers of the world Do, apart from Do amazing things, is to inspire the rest of us to go and Do amazing things.

They are fire-starters.

Are you a fire starter? Will my IDent animation be a good introduction for these inspirational speakers? I hope so. All in all a great website, clear to the point and informative.

TED Talks

TED Talks are Do Lectures most direct competition, they run along similar grounds having inspiring talks to people willing to pay the fees. Jamie Oliver has even given a talk on how healthy eating and what he was doing to push healthier foods in schools and in our homes, very inspiring stuff. Like Do lectures you can also watch these talks online for free. Being a DO Lectures brief these TED people are our sworn enemies, but they do work along very similar grounds. They should combine companies and call it TEDO Lectures really.

Do Letures- Knowing my audience

Who are the people that attend these DO Lectures?

People with a drive to succeed, people looking for inspiration, businesses, business minds, success storys, artists, musicians, all people from all walks of life.

Jessica Wiegand who attended past lectures was asked: Why the Do lectures?

"I needed to draw inspiration from others who have overcome apathy and DONE something, to enable me to do the same rather than just researching for the rest of my life!"

The people attending are paying good money to be at these lectures and expect to be motivated, encouraged and to hear stories that make you think, "Yeah, lets do it" "Lets get out and DO".
